back to article Reg hack beats 'Belle de Jour' sex rap

A Reg hack breathed a huge sigh of relief this weekend, as the self-unmasking of Belle de Jour finally refuted allegations by newspapers that he was a blogger. In 2004 The Independent repeated claims in the Evening Standard diary that following his career as an expensive prostitute, Andrew Orlowski had abandoned his morals to …

Famous by association?! (or) For whom the Belle tolls...

"Described in some quarters as a "cult figure", Mr Orlowski has a record of cultured sex writing on the internet. "

Which quarters are these? I think we should be told...

  2. Hermes Conran

    I thought Orlowski...

was only in bed with the global warming denialists!

My favourite part of the story was...

... that she was supplementing her day a 'computer programmer'.

I'm not convinced, if I was wired an undisclosed but substantial sum of money, I too would rush to your defence pretending to be a whatever it was you were being accused of. Clearly something similar must have happened here. The big O is NOT innocent I declare!

I wouldn't be paying 300/hr to shag her. Jesus, people thought the stock market was overpriced.

Also, @ Hermes Conran: I think you're mistaking "environmental denialists" with Universal.

Show's how bad things are though

When somebody who's clearly very talented (in her CURRENT job, not her previous one :p) has to resort to prostituion just to get through their PhD.

Makes me feel a little bit disappointed with the whole country tbh.

I have no idea what this is about.

I'm pretty sure Belle allows comments on her blog - Andrew never allows them on his Reg articles...

  24. Chris 3

Yes, what is it with the comments?

Andrew writes interesting, contentious articles designed to spark debate. So why are comments always turned off? I just don't get it.

+1 for Chris3, it winds me up when I read a contentious/interesting article on El Reg, then find, when I've bothered to read the whole thing, that I can't even comment on it.

And before any of you lot start, yes, some readers do read the whole article!
