back to article Web host lunches clients' emails for a week

British web hosting company UK2.net is still trying to restore emails to customers almost a week after it first reported problems. Currently its live support service is offline too, and customers are still waiting to get their messages back. Apart from losing incoming messages customers are also struggling to send messages out …

    Very poor customer service

Their mail system has been unreliable for at least nine months and almost unusable for the last two. I think they took on too many customers without upgrading their systems and have now been caught out.

Still waiting to get access after three days and counting ...

    Not just a week!

Er - you think this has been going on for just a week?! Believe me it's been a lot lot longer than that - I've been having trouble since early September! The response time from the team there is abysmal - to be fair to them they're probably up to their eyeballs trying to fix things - but quite frankly - "we apologise for any inconvenience this is causing you" - is not exactly doing it for me any more - I am losing money, it goes a little deeper than being inconvenienced!!

    FAIL

    Disgraceful service

This has truly awful. For a week now this has really damaged our business and we've been told virtually nothing. Now I know why people haven't been getting back to us. Internal emails are bouncing and I don't know how many from others have been bounced:

    Technical details of permanent failure:

x tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 relay not permitted (state 14).

This despite the UK2 Service Heartbeat claiming at 10:14 today:

'Our email system is now working and is receiving new emails'.

WTF? Forget 'Service Heartbeat' - this is 'Service Cardiac Arrest'. This is real pounds and pence stuff. How amateur. I'm off. Will the last person to leave please turn off the lights.

Told the wife it wasn't her fault

But of course she thinks it's mine.

    Bunch of total *********

Saturday 7th november 10.30 - still not receiving any mails from UK2

Despite their status page stating the system is up.

This is costing me money and they don't respond to tickets, e-mails and impossible to get them on the phone.

Anyone got a home number for the MD???

Who's using UK2 for anything serious?

Really gotta wonder about the comments above some of which suggest people are using UK2 for business purposes. Have people never heard of all the stories about their customer support (or lack thereof) about this company or perhaps wondered why they're selling domains for a penny....someone gotta make cuts in any service if you're selling stuff for insanely cheap prices.

Assume it's also a right pain to move domains and thus email away from them too. Google UK2 problems for years of enlightenment.
