This is almost guaranteed to happen when a company outsources production. A low-cost outsourced production company with no respect for intellectual property, trademarks, even contracts, will not destroy the mistakes and will resell them in an underground market. Or they'll make another production run of "knockoffs" based on the original molds and patterns THAT YOU GAVE THEM.
(Hmm perhaps that is the only way they really make any money is by this secondary business?)
If you want complete control over your production then you may need to do it in-house, or pay more for a reputable company that you can trust.
