Oh my god...
.. as if most of the youth of today would know what "Lingam" was - most probably think it's an exotic fruit found at Tescos....
Apple has rejected an e-book reader from the iTunes store on the grounds that users might download a copy of the Kama Sutra - despite the same content being available in half a dozen other applications including Safari. Eucalyptus is an app that downloads content from Project Gutenberg, and presents it with a pretty interface …
I always find it ironic that Americans think that the British are prudes with Victorian values -- or at least portray the nation that way in movies and on television -- when in fact the British are quite the opposite and USA demonstrates again and again that Americans are as prude an Islamic Republic.
This is no surprise, but it is madness.
Ive been polishing the trouser snake for years without a problem....
Then again my eyesight sucks, I have to shave my palms and all that stuff....
OMG APPLE IS RIGHT I SHOULD REPENT MY EVIL WAYS AND BUY ONLY THEIR PRODUCTS BECAUSE MY IMMORALITY IS GOING TO BE THE END OF ME!!!!!
ODFO Apple. There is HISTORIC work and porn. Figure out which one you dont want and let the other be.
Twats.
/Fuck going AC I really dont care
ODFO Apple? How about aiming that ODFO at the prudish "christian" right in America? As yourself why Apple take these measures. Bad press you imbecile. Apple hold the keys to the store, so who do the parents sue when little James looks at porn on his phone? Thats right, Apple. I don't think for one minute that these draconian measures are aimed at the European market, but Apples hands are tied. But hey, you get to bank your drum, spouting you vitriolic rhetoric in the direction of Cupertino, waving your self-righteous finger and wiping away the foam from you mouth. You, my friend, need to get a life...
One day, we'll all look back, suck air noisily thru our teeth, pause for a moment and reflect how unbelievable it is that back in the early part of the 21st century, the religious fuckwits still held sway over society
How - unthinkable as it may seem - companies like Apple (and Microshaft, and the likes of Coke and Pepsi) had to develop strategies that let them carefully negotiate the veto and boycott power of utterly evil organisations called 'churches'
How schools had to dance a delicate line around creationism and real science.
Then we'll sit back, sip on our beers and be utterly grateful that shit died away
well.. I hope that's how it pans out, anyway
Does anyone at all, just possibly, think that the reason given isn't actually the reason that Apple don't want this app?
Since several people have pointed out that this stuff is available in other ways, it is reasonable to assume that this is just an excuse, so no point getting all upset over it.
Actually, what _is_ the point of this app? Is Project Gutenburg not already available via the web directly?
