    Thumb Up

if it's accurate and not too expensive

that would actually be very useful. part of the problem with quarantines, travel bans, etc, is that they cannot be made both effective and not-too-inconvenient when you have a bug that spreads quickly and begins with generic symptoms.

    That's all well enough, but...

am I going to get a mailbox full off spam about this?

I went to my doctor yesterday for a swine flu test... He asked me how I was feeling.

After I told him I was feeling perky...

He said... "Well, that explains it then, you would have been better off keeping your hands to yourself".

"The company's Influenza A Detection System isn't limited to detecting evil swine sequences. CombiMatrix says that it can identify any known flu variant, including "novel strains" produced by rapid mutation or recombinations of multiple strains."

:-) With the important operative word, "novel", in quotes. Good to see El Reg recognising the corrupt programming. Bravo.

Of course, that now opens up a whole new ball game, which is actually a head Game, which is actually QuITe Perfect ARG Territory for Immaculate Deadheads into AIMMORPGames ...... Temporal Quests?

    Get it all in context

*Regular flu has killed more people than swine flu during the last few weeks.

*One day sees more tuberculosis and malaria deaths than all the swine flu deaths in the last few weeks.

In part that's due to good isolation practices. No doubt if health authorities had not been so hardball there would be a lot more places in the world with larger number outbreaks.
