Crapphone Whorehouse anyone?
Carphone Warehouse is continuing its blocking of union web sites, this time deciding that employees working at Tulketh Mill, Preston, don't need access to information hosted at the Carphoneworker website. On Friday, those working at Preston found their web filter was preventing access to the Communication Workers Union-run …
Well, they don't just block this but I believe virtually all other sites, but their wifi is another story they just won't leave it secure on a national basis and in actual fact seems to do more than it should. I do know CPW just won't fix it quickly, it seems to be taking a very long time to fix something so simple when I've provided full details on the issues around this and they are grateful but don't seem to want to act fast. to get things tight as houses again the same like some other stores etc who just can't do this either.

So what?
Big wowzers, a company doesnt want you using the net for personal reasons on company time!
Union matters certainly arent work reasons (well they dont bring any profit to the company) ... get yourself an internet connection and do your whingeing about your employer from home.
Sheesh.
Using a union web site during company time isn't automatically for personal reasons. They seem to allow pretty much the whole of the rest of the internet (with the usual exceptions) so it is of interest why they don't allow a union's web site.
Oh, and union matters are by definition work matters, unless you've totally missed the point of a union.
