You've dropped a story from your front page about BBC making live TV available NOW on some S60 and WinMob handsets, but are running a story about a niche device that may, or may not, in its next version, have a feature that other smartphones have had for at least the past two years?
I suppose the Reg kind of journalism is all about getting people to click on links, and with loads of iPhone stories, no matter how stupid and banal, you get both the fanboys and the anti-fanboys clicking like fury, but that's what I call trolling, not journalism.

TV on a cell is not news. No one wants to pay a monthly fee to watch TV on a 2.5" screen. Talk about stupid and banal...
When the BBC start telling people they need a licence for a cell phone that will be news.
Or a phone with a built in digital over the air (free TV) tuner, not that the cellular companies would let that see the light of day.

the software, no matter how good it may be to use, (lets face it apple do make good software), will be squashed into a tin screen... (thus making this useful is going to be an uphill battle).
and when you're done it's not like you'll be able to send the files via mms anyway...

I could see the point if this was just an app that people downloaded, but something coming with the phone? just doesn't make sense..
Perhaps the precursors of a non-iphone based editing app in the works? - if the underlying hardware and interface on the much rumored apple tablet device is based on the iPhone UI then who knows...
I can't see current iphone hardware being any much use even for casual video editing... (If apple inteded video creation functionality then surely video recording would have been an option from launch, never mind 3.0?) The built in camera is crap anyway, the processing hardware won't cope and there is no external interface to import footage from the majority of other devices (bluetooth and Wifi compatible HD camera's being a novely).
Now, a multicore tablet doo-hicky capable of doing draft editing of footage in a directors hands in the field, now that would be cool.
Just speculation though. The artwork is probably totally unrelated to video editing.

How do you work that out? iPhone OS 3.0 features MMS support. As for the camera, this whole post is conjecture around a new model, so one might expect the camera to be different in that in any case (especially as it's such a weak point currently).
