back to article Santa booted from iPhone app store

Santa Live isn't any more, as the iPhone application that bribed punters for good reviews is pulled from the Application Store for suggesting that Rudolf played his part in the homicide of Grandma. The app, which showed a daily animation of Santa's preparations for Christmas, had attracted a small audience of child-equipped …

    Oh come on!

About 8 years ago my dad gave my sister one of those fluffy singing reindeer thingies. The song was "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer", and I didn't see any of us complaining about the song. In fact, we were laughing!

I think there are a lot of humor-impaired parents out there...

This doesn't sound like a smart businessman...

He read the $250,000 story (which is probably true, but does anybody seriously think it is the average story?), spent $12,000 on creating a product presumably without substantial further research into potential revenue, seemingly didn't competently check whether his material was really suitable for the market and then used an open forum to offer people money for good reviews?

    Could've been worse...

... the author could've used 'Santa Claus you c**t, where's my f*****g bike?' by Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson.

My 9 y.o. step daughter was asked last weekend what her fav Xmas song was..... and the Grandma homicide tale was at the top of the list.

    Stupid parents...

Well, everyone knows kids love these types of humo(u)r... If the kids of these people complaining are having problems with the song, then I guess they have other, more pressing problems to deal with, really...

We were a bit more hardcore back in Brazil though, and used to enjoy a song called "Papai Noel filho da puta", by an old local punk band (Garotos Podres). Look it up, it's even on YouTube. :-)

One of my grandmas laughed hysterically when she first heard the opening line (which is the yelled title) of that one -- we thought she'd be mad but she actually agreed with the song, hehe.

    EY!

Ok, the total miss management of a software project aside!

    A few bits and bobs.

1)When I was a kid and 1st heard this song I couldn’t stop laughing I thought it was brilliant and a great change from all the other stuff played in the shops my mum dragged me around

2)No I didn’t wish ill of my grandparents and knew it was just a song

3)If a child is young enough to get offended by this song… What the hell are they doing with an iPhone?

4)An iPhone offers a gateway to much more offensive material than “grandma got run over by a reindeer”.

I bet these are the parents that order their kids McDonalds without any sauce and a diet coke... Get a grip on reality!

Iphone 3g, sense of humour not included!

no surprise that iphone users have a total sense of humour failure really.

Had he uses the Kevin "bloody" Wilson song he probably would have made his $250,000 and then some!

In fact an Iphone app that randomly inserts his songs as ringtones would be awesome. Imagine the look on the face of the ubercool iphone jockey when his phone starts to blare out "mick me mate the master farter, with his true pitch perfect, double jointed arse"

Bill for the iphoners out there!
