While a genuine "age of enlightenment" _is_ unlikely (regardless of the outcome), it is still highly possible that the economic situation could improve just because the "correct" candidate gets elected and this eases many peoples' minds. (Specifically, the people who think _only_ their candidate can lead us out of the abject economic depression they think we're in.) No longer convinced they're going to have to fashion their next pair of shoes out of tree-bark, these people will again work / sell and buy / spend more normally.
