back to article MS + Yahoo! = Microhoo! - Official!

It's official: the unholy spawn of the Microsoft-Yahoo! coupling shall forthwith be known as Microhoo!, following a resounding victory for the neologism in our recent reader poll. In the end, Microhoo! secured no less than 30! per! cent! of the 4,249 votes cast, soundly thrashing YaMicrohoosoft! into second spot. The results …

    No Bulgarian Airbags?

... and no sign of that lass with the EEE either. It's a sad day at El-Reg towers.

    Mine's the tin-foil one

I was rooting for YaSoft! - never mind. Nice logo though, and the pun wouldn't have worked with my favoured option.

I saw the title in my RSS reader and thought they'd finally given in and been bought. the world is a little safer for longer....

    Microhoo! Cares!

How convenient you've forgotten who came up with that - otherwise you'd owe them at least $6bn in brandstorming fees.

  5. Tom Silver badge

    what about two names

YahBoo Sucks as the new management (nocturnal e-)mission statement or, for the 'customers' BooHoo.

  6. James

    be careful now....

remember the Australia Santa that was sacked for saying Ho Ho Ho.... (seemingly a word of disrepute for our North American friends).

Not sure that MicroHoo wouldn't fall into the same category.

    Now where's my MicroCoat...

  7. Michael H.F. Wilkinson

    Very practical

If ever Microhoo fails, we shall say in years to come

The black one please, with the drizabone hat

    Not equals

Am I the only one who read the title as "MS plus Yahoo not equals Microhoo"?

    I'll get my coat...

  10. Keith T

    Thanks for the logo

Someone buy a pint or three for whoever came up with the logo.

It's good enough to be the un-official logo for whatever they choose for the name.

    Made oi larf

I'd have gone for HooSoft, which has the advantage of having a "fun" mispelling if you drop out an "o" from the front half of the name ;)

  15. Anonymous Coward

    Thank you for caring...

Ian, but they didn't forget - I didn't tell them. I could afford to give them "MicroHoo Cares!" because the market research is concluding and already paid for (classified as "sunk costs") over the years of my buying MS 'stuff'.

  16. mezla

    I prefer MicroYah!

And I feel it is a gross oversight that it wasn't included in the poll.

    Let me exclaim

I! wish! I! could! write! like! this! all! the! time!

How did 'ElReg' know that I had fired up the joss-sticks, stuck on the whalesong CD and partook of a large line of Bolivian marching powder, then washed it down with one of those bloody Mexican beers, with a slice of lime wedged into the top of the bottle, when I suddenly spurted out 'Microhoo' to post here?

Can't take your eyes off of a hovering vultures, that's for sure!

    @Anonymous cowardly powder sniffer

I think the Vulture beat you to it, I saw him walking about in rasberry jelly and mumbling about the story of the shmoo.

Penguin because I think that from the expression on his face he has just sat down in some rasberry jelly too.

    Reduce Reuse Recycle

I was hoping for something a bit more simple... like "Moo!"

    Lack of Imagination Readers....

There should be subtle changes and should describe the ultimate result of the two company. It ought to be:

  24. Paul Randle

    Microhoo Cares

Depending on the efficacy of the resulting entity, surely it should be either "Microhoo Scares", or "Hoo Cares".

    My vote's on the latter.

  25. Anonymous Coward

    A title is required.

    I'd shorten the logo/name to:

  26. Gabriel S.

    MIcrohoo,Like Microhood, or Micro, Who?

What a name Microhoo? It sounds funny and stupid. Anyway, Yahoo by Microsoft is the best. And you did not include YAHMic! in the choices for the poll. The winner for me is YAHMic!
