    Anthropologists making diagnoses?

    The reply is hilarious.

"Internet addiction" is not a recognized psychopathology -- it does not appear in either the DSM or the ICD. And, like thousands of other proposed disorders that appear in the research literature, it has little chance of making it into the next revision of the DSM or ICD.

The next time you want to assign questions to be answered, try to at least get experts in the field of the question. Mental health issues should be addressed by a trained health professional, behavioral health professional, or medical doctor. Not an anthropologist!

    iad crock

iad is another dr or professor waisting funds to try to label people who spend a lot of time on line . the reality of it is the internet is the only way to communicate with anyone now a days that is not controlled by "big brother" or any other organizations it is the only means "we the people" have freedom of speech to speak our minds . we dont need any hypocrates or wanna be dr.'s telling us we have some disorder that they have a new prescription drug or "magic pill" that can solve the problem and make the drug manufacturers more money and subdue the general public from waking up and seeing things for what they really are. we are tired of the bs lets take that money and put it back in our pockets for better use .

some psychiatrists need to get a proper job

The strapline "I can't live without IE" gives away a lot about the author's IT credentials.

No doubt the fact that I use Firefox rather than IE will be regarded as significant/sad....

or is it just that I find it

    a) easier to use

    and

    b) it follows the W3C standards more rigorously

    Signs of addiction

P'raps the family of the addict should look for laptops in plastic bags taped to the inside of the toilet cistern.
