back to article Chinese cybersecurity company claims it’s built a better-than-Mythos bug finder

Chinese cybersecurity vendor Qihoo 360 claims it’s built an AI bug-finder that’s better than Anthropic’s Mythos model. CEO Zhou Hongyi revealed the model in a speech at the 14th Beijing Cybersecurity Conference, which Qihoo 360 organizes. Chinese media outlets have transcribed the talk, in which Zhou described Mythos as “ …

    They never learn

As I said many times before, when you deprive a nation of important resources they will find a way to compensate. Ironically it is usually far more efficient, simply because it had to be, and as a result can easily compete with the original thing that was banned.

    Stupid.

Mrs Golden Goose meets Mr Diamond Guy for Alien Encounters and Virtual Trysts

US authorities have sanctioned Qihoo 360 on grounds that it probably supplies China’s military.

But isn't Anthropic probably supplying US allied militaries their Claude/Mythos/Fable/Opus toys and tabs?

Surely such progress and reciprocity is perfectly normal and fully to be expected and accepted rather than dramatised and fishily reported as suspected?

A better kind of cold war?

We still need the spies, on both sides, to infiltrate the running dogs'/cunning devils' secretive hunters and bring home the latest details on security holes that have been found in our systems.

Only this time, instead of using the information to arrange little accidents for the moles, a vast widespread response is required, one that reaches across the globe and touches so much more than the assorted security services' personnel. Now, the superpowers are forced to patch all our desktop software to stop the Other Side's encroachments.

Although this does raise the SPECTRE of increased Corporate Sponsorship of espionage, the proper stuff, not that penny-ante "industrial espionage": is the most cost-effective route for Microsoft to locate bugs in Excel to train their own Matt Helm* or to hire Blofeld? Well, we all know management would rather spend money on contractors than risk increasing their own company's warm body count...

Definitely a better kind of completely different cold war? Untouchable Intangibles Just Doing IT

Although this does raise the SPECTRE of increased Corporate Sponsorship of espionage, the proper stuff, not that penny-ante "industrial espionage": ...... that one in the corner

The proper stuff? Methinks those who presume and are ludicrously well paid to fake it until they make a hash of it, together with that which has obligations programmed into it to provide the entertainment of the faux presence and phantom possession of the future knowledge required to prevent and/or mitigate the possibility of simply complex catastrophic globalised systems crashes, would quite rightly fear that sort of real proper stuff being made readily available to a worthy select and fantastically secretive few.
