back to article Snyk CEO bails, wants someone with more AI experience to replace him

The CEO of code review platform provider Snyk has announced he will stand down so the company can find someone better-equipped to steer the company into the age of AI. “This is a deeply emotional decision. I love this business, I hold this team dear, and my conviction in our mission has never been higher,” CEO Peter McKay …

    Maybe they will hire me...

...I'm by far old enough to be a CEO, I am very disruptive (Especially my bladder. Comes with the grey beard.), and I know buzzwords from multiple decades! I bet all I'd have to do is train an AI solely on American politicians' campaign speeches over the last 65 years and I wouldn't even need to actually join one of those Zoomer calls.

:-) ..... is nothing to joke about, chuckufarley, whenever the consequences and repercussions of failure to safely successfully secure fielding expertise with shielding for the wielding of almighty leading pioneering advantage can be and therefore most certainly will be so incredibly marked and obvious in CHAOS [Clouds Hosting Advanced Operating Systems] with the following being a Prime Premium example....... SuperB IntelAIgent Services ..... For Sale and To Rent Too

And it’s a nice little earner for weaponisation too if you have all of the requisite wherewithal/universally applicable nous and are content and comfortable with being recognised as an Untouchable Intangible and Phantom Ghost Frenemy ....... Phantom Hosting Ghost Entity CyberIntelAIgently Designed to Roast and make Toast of every Kind of Manic and Maniacal Enemy for a very suitable postmodern 0day final solution to what has been for far too long an ancient persistent primitive problem.

"an era of hyper-intensive AI innovation"

He, like Belshazzar, has seen the writing on the wall while not exactly "mene, mene, tekel, parsin" and deciding that discretion is the better part of valour is preparing to bail out with his suitcase of readies before the engines catch fire.

Why the coat icon? It was pretty much my own translation of what he said.

I think the coat icon in this case should be read as "CEO reaching for his coat with the parachute attached", perhaps?

        Seconded, anyway.

For the good of the company I MUST go ... now !!! (Goodbye and thanks for all the fish !!!)

    Translation:

    ============

The wind smells excessively of Bovine ordure, and the source is all the 'AI' infested companies & products around me.

There is a huge bubble which will burst due to gravity, at the very least.

So I will take my money & reputation NOW and 'go west young man', as the saying goes !!!

    :)

Doesn't really feel like a story

CEO feels he's not best equipped to move the company in the direction the board wants. Steps aside. There may have been board / shareholder dissatisfaction, there may not. Either way when a CEO leaves they have to say something to protect the company. He could have just said "I want to spend more time with my hobbies" but probably that isn't a good enough statement for future employment and probably wouldn't have got publicity the company probably desires...

He doesn't believe the AI bullshit and the board are credulous idiots and want someone who does?

Looking at his track record, I suggest his skill set is in turning well financed “flying” startups (ie. Startups that have achieved a million or so of revenue) into successful small businesses. With Snyk he has overseen growth from circa £2m in 2019 to $325m today. Thus he is not really interested in the politics of established businesses where the emphasis changes from growth to consolidation and “profit”/money extraction.

Sheesh I'm glad I work for a company where nobody talks like this. It's the most potent advert for avoiding management.

Lots and lots of language but, alas, no meaning.

They need someone to harmonise their synergies. Or something like that.

    interesting timing

with current innovations in claude able to do security and code syntax checking , maybe he knows the future doesn't look good ?

We use snyk and other code scanning tools and claude at work and I think the seniors are probably or will consider a switch.
