Well, I had an email this morning from El Reg saying I had won a bronze medal or something. That must count me in, right?
Are you senior enough to sit around a table with The Register?
You’ve filled in the polls, posted the comments – now we want to meet you in person to chew over the most important IT issues of the day. The day in question is 8 July, when we’ll be holding the first of a series of live Register events for our senior IT decision-maker readers. We will be meeting at the Soho Hotel in central …

Go to the back of the queue. My medal's bigger than yours! And if there's any free drinking and feasting to do, then I plan to be first in line.
Admittedly I run the IT for a 5 employee company, and we outsource it on grounds of my incomptence. But that's no reason not to dwell on the pearls of wisdom that fall from my lips, along with the spilled lager and bacon-crumbs.

Am I senior enough? I reckon so as I have several senior moments every day. I'd be happy to attend your fancy dress soirée. I've never been to the London Hotel in Soho so this should be a treat. Now then, be a good lad and fetch me a cuppa before my nap. I have to be well rested for when those nice folks from the London Soho registry stop by. Oh since you're up, would you mind handing me a sweater, it's getting a bit chilly.

Calling a spade, a spade, and no fcuking about with pathetic niceties.
Eddy ito, howdy doody,
Do you think there is someone opening a book, betting on there being spooks from intelligence in Soho Hotel, London, rather than London Hotel in Soho, to hear what is being said and put a face to names .... for the question asked by El Reg is very leading.
Certainly they could definitely do with smarter novel guidance, considering the sorry states they have gotten themselves into for quite a long time now, which to be perfectly honest, is always as result of failing of intellectual capacity and ability right at the top of the command and control power chain.

Intellectual Capital
Our Man From Mars has a very valid point. A conference on the dwindling intellectual capital available in the professional workforce should certainly be on everyone's agenda at this time. Consideration of the root causes of this phenomenon bear careful and immediate examination.
This should be an online and streamed conference as the air-column is far too polluted with ionizing radiation from Fukushima to make air travel a supportable requirement.

Re: old tech Reg
can't you get "invent" an app and suck up all the data from the mob, meeting in person is soo old hat! .... knarf
Hi, knarf,
Is not the El Reg readers comments section an inventive app for sucking up all data from the mob, and from odd yobs and nubes* too at times if the whole truth be told?
* :-) Newbies who be nude and sat twixt chair and keyboard and seeing it as no problem for an IT existence.
Are pleasures of the flesh ever old fashioned? ...... is a good question to ask if one doubts the potential for added value in meeting persons and in eating and drinking and being merry.:-)

Me
... I'm the MD of an IT consultancy and you will have heard of one or two of my customers (and that includes you folk from across the pond (I'm in the UK))
Am I important enough? <me me me me me me>
'an I've got a pretty new tarnished bronze "ooo you've got pissed once or twice and commented on our forums" star. I bet that Don Jeff bloke got an invite - he's all posh 'n' that like, 'an 'e's well important - so 'e sez.
Well, my apostrophe key is getting horney through repeated bashing and Google doesn't approve of my spelling, given the matronly red line Chrome gives "horney" . Time to bugger off to Reddit, to be welcomed with open arms.
Cheers
Jon
